Jyrki Anttila has studied at the Oulu Conservatory, at the Sibelius Academy opera studio from 1995 to 1998 and with Jaakko Ryhänen from 1996 to 2002.

Jyrki Anttila won the Somero National Tenor Singing Competition in 1997 and the Tampere Opera Grand Prix Competition in 1999. He has been engaged as a soloist at the Finnish National Opera since 1998, and has appeared as a guest soloist at the Tampere, Oulu and Vaasa Operas, the Savonlinna Opera Festival, the Latvian National Opera, the Bern Opera, the Leipzig Opera and the Estonian National Opera.

Jyrki Anttila’s repertoire includes the title role in Orlando Paladino by Haydn; Tamino in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart; Hervey in Anna Bolena by Donizetti; Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra and the Duke in Rigoletto by Verdi; Matteo in Arabella by Richard Strauss; the Duke in the operetta A Night in Venice by Johann Strauss; Don José in Carmen by Bizet; Andrei Khovansky in Khovanshchina and the False Dimitri in Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky; Lensky in Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky; Ruggero in La rondine, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Renato des Grieux in Manon Lescaut and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly by Puccini; Boris in Kat’a Kabanova and Steva in Jenufa by Janáček; Juhana in Viimeiset kiusaukset (The Last Temptations) by Joonas Kokkonen; Antti in Pohjalaisia (The Ostrobothnians) by Leevi Madetoja; Shemeikka in Juha by Aarre Merikanto; Merchant of Novgorod in Ratsumies (The Horseman) by Aulis Sallinen; Felix Ysupov in Rasputin by Einojuhani Rautavaara; Count Tassilo in Countess Maritza by Kálmán; Edwin in Die Czardasfurstin.by Kálmán; and Count Danilo in The Merry Widow by Lehár.

Jyrki Anttila is especially interested in Richard Wagner’s operas, and he has had roles in following productions: Siegmund in Die Valkyrie (the Latvian National Opera, the Finnish National Opera); the title role in Parsifal (the Finnish National Opera); Erik in The Flying Dutchman (the Savonlinna Opera Festival); title role in Tannhäuser (the Estonian National Opera); and Tristan in Tristan und Isolde (the Finnish National Opera).

Jyrki Anttila’s repertoire for 2016 includes Tristan und Isolde, Tannhäuser, The Flying Dutchman and also the officer in Cardillac by Paul Hindemith; and the main tenor role Antti in Pohjalaisia (The Ostrobothnians) by Leevi Madetoja.

Jyrki Anttila has appeared as a concert soloist in the USA, Australia and Japan.

Jyrki Anttila has been the artistic director of the Lohja Tenor Festival 2005–2010, Ilmajoki Music Festival 2010–2014 and Kirjuri Classic 2012–2014.
